Air Asia Set to Close Surakarta – Kuala Lumpur Flight Route on January 16

The low-cost carrier (LCC) that is based on Malaysia, Air Asia decides to close their flight route from Surakarta to Kuala Lumpur. The closing will be officially done on January 16 this year.

Spencer Lee as the Air Asia’s Berhad’s Head of Commerce, in the interview on Saturday, January 6, 2018, said that they would close the route that regularly flies in three schedules per week. He added that the closing of the Surakarta – Kuala Lumpur route was because of the commercial reasons.

The route closing plan of Air Asia id conveyed to the potential passengers through SMS or email suitable with the account details that have been registered when they purchased the tickets.

According to the Head of Commerce, the passengers that are pretentious for the route termination will have some choices as the compensation services. The choices are such as changing the flight route to depart from Yogyakarta or Semarang, changing the flight schedule to be earlier than the route closing date, providing a credit account for another flight booking at Air Asia, or the passengers also can choose to make a full refund.

On the other hand, the Manager of Angkasa Pura (AP) I Airport Transpiration Service and Operations named Purwanto said that he has known about the route closing plan information; from Surakarta to Kuala Lumpur. Yet, he and the other officers haven’t gotten the confirmation from Asia’s best low-cost carrier officially.

The manager added that they also didn’t know the real reason for the route closing. He wasn’t sure it’s for commercial reasons because it’s not suitable for the data. According to the data received by the airport, the Air Asia passengers for Surakarta – Kuala Lumpur route is averagely high enough. Even the sums of passengers are mostly reaching around 70%.

In spite of the route closing, Lee guaranteed that Air Asia still has a commitment to add more flights that depart and comes to Indonesia in 2018.
