One thing that makes Bangkok popular is its shopping markets, which are available day and night. There are some excitements of each market. You can always enjoy the crowd and the pleasing arrays of options during the heat of the day, but then again, the Bangkok night market is lively and full of energy. If you aren’t really into haggling and bargaining during the day, why not doing it at night, then?
Several List of Bangkok Night Markets
Asiatique Night Market
You can seriously find a lot of entertainment here, and shopping is definitely one of them. What makes this place unique is that you can find both shopping mall and the night bazaar without having to go far. There are 40 different restaurants and 1,500 boutiques under the huge warehouse complex. It is a busy market but not too much so it is pleasant to stroll along the stalls and shops. The market opens from 5 PM to midnight.
You can reach the place with various means of transportation, but the boat is the fastest way. You can take the BTS heading to Saphan Taksin. By the end of the pier, there will be a free shuttle, which you can take. For the next 10 minutes, you can enjoy the view, and voila! You already arrive at Asiatique. Feel free to take the taxis, but mind you, the traffic is super awful, especially in this area.
JJ Green Night Market
The place isn’t far away from Weekend Chatuchak Market, but both of them are offering different things. In JJ Green, you will feel a relaxed air and laid-back atmosphere – not to mention that there is a feeling of old-school bohemian vibe. It is quite cool with the combination of drinking hangout and retro flea market. You can stroll around the place at its most convenient time, which is from 5 PM to midnight from Thursdays to Sundays.
Reaching this area is pretty easy as long as you are already familiar with Chatuchak Market. Take the BTS heading to Mo Chit and get off there. You can also take the MRT to Chatuchak and get off there, and then continue on foot. Go along Kamphaeng Phet Road and this JJ Green is situated in the park. If you are confused, ask the locals – they should be able to direct you.
Indy Night Market
This night market is located inside Pratunam perimeter, right outside it. Pratunam is the Platinum mall for fashion and also wholesale accessories. When compared to other night markets, especially the already popular ones, this one is pretty small but it has a lot of unique handmade items that cost no more than 100 baths. Finding fashion items should be easy and you can remain chic along the way. If you are done doing some window shopping, you can find a lot of tasty foods along the market. If nothing meets your preference, you can always head into the mall. The mall opens from 7 PM to midnight. Take the BTS Chitlom Station – it isn’t far from there.
Patpong Night Market
Looking for fake branded watches or bags or clothes? Come to Patpong night market – you will be in a heaven of fake items. If you follow the latest fashion trend, you will surely find their copies here. If you aren’t interested in buying, you can still at least enjoy the crowd and the atmosphere. Mind you, though, that the market is pretty close to the go-go bars with their dancing girls. If you are travelling with kids, you may want to avoid coming too close to the area. How to reach the market? If you come from BTS Siam Station, get off at Sala Daeng and the market is right there. It is located in the heart of Silom.
