This place may not be overly popular among tourists but it does have its own appeal, charm, and even challenges. You will definitely enjoy the outdoor setting and the exploration of the places that you have never seen before.
About Khao Khanap Nam
What can you learn about this place, anyway? If you see the overall view of Khao Khanap Nam, you will see two limestone peaks of what known as Krabi’s Twin Mountains at the background of Krabi River. The position is as if the mountains are acting as the gateway and they are guarding the city. Of course, visitors are free to enter the area and enjoy whatever activities offered (and provided) in the city. Be advised, though, that the only way in and out of the city is through the water, so you still need to pay for the boat ride.
As it was mentioned before, Khao Khanap Nam isn’t exactly your popular travelling destination for the holiday unless you want to explore the caves or take part in the canoeing activity. If you are the adventurous type and you want to explore the area, there are some caves with amazing clusters of stalagmites and stalactites. You can explore the caves and marvel their construction. It’s advisable to do this with a guide so you won’t be lost.
You can also explore the mangrove forest by a boat or a canoe. In some areas, you can do this on foot, but there are other areas that require boating. Or if you want to enjoy the relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, you can always rent a canoe to explore the mangrove area. If you are going with your family, you can always rent a boat and have a leisure boating experience together.
If you want to see how the locals live and go with their routine, you can go to Khao Klang village to meet and interact with them. You can visit the local handicraft centre, the museum, and also learn about fishing cage method. You can also learn to weave cotton and see the creation of a long-tailed boat. If you are interested in visiting the village, you need to rent a boat, which is going to cost you 300 baht. It takes only 20 minutes from Khao Khanap Nam to Khao Klang village.

The Regular Tour Trip
If you join a tour to Khao Khanap Nam, it is quite usual that the guide will accompany you through the whole 9 hours trip. They will pick you up at your hotel, take you to the area. With the long-tailed boat, they will take you to the mangrove forests. Once you arrive at the caves, you need to continue the journey on foot, marvelling the stalagmites and stalactites. After the exploration completes, you will be served lunch. Afterwards, you may be taken for a river cruise with the SUP or Standup Paddle Boat. As you cruise by, you can enjoy the atmosphere, the view, and also Wat Tham Suea. Then, the tour is over and they will take you back to your hotel.
Of course, you are free to explore the area alone or consult a professional tour service. Keep in mind that Khao Khanap Nam can only be accessed by boat. So you need to go to Chao Fa Pier located in Krabi and use the boat. It takes 15 minutes from Chao Fa Pier to Khao Khanap Nam.
