In the Chongming Island, you will find some attraction places. There are eight most interesting places such as the Dongping National Forest Park, Dongtan Wetland Park, Xisha Wetland Park, Pearl lake, Chongming Academy, Shou’an Temple, Dan Yuan Garden, and several villages and also an orchard.
1. Dongping National Forest Park
This park is located in the centre of the Island. In this place, you will be able to see the beauty of a hundred trees, listen to the bird’s whistle, enjoying the forest’s atmosphere. Although this is not a natural forest, the atmosphere is very good. Other activities that you can do are grass skiing, rock climbing, golf court, tennis courts, and also forest zip-line. Dongping Opens from Monday to Friday from 8.30 AM until 4 PM. And also open on weekends from 8.30 AM until 5 PM. The entrance ticket price starts from 35 until 70 CNY.
2. Dongtan Wetland Park
This park location is in the eastern of the Island. This place is the place for enjoying healthy and pure air. Many visitors are coming here to see the sunset. You will also enjoy the wild birds, geese, and herons view. Another landscape is sea view. You can also look at the birds at the pavilion in the centre of the park. Dongtan opens Everyday from 9 AM until 5 PM the Entrance Ticket Prices start from 50 CNY until 80 CNY.

3. Xisha Wetland Park
The location is in the southwest of the Island. This is the place of the plentiful swamps, wild sugar canes, ponds, and also the freshwater. This place is also good for watching the sunset and finish the day. You can visit here every day except for the spring tides time from 8.30 AM until 4 PM. And the entrance tickets are free.
4. Pearl Lake
This lake location is in the west of the island. This is the largest natural inland lake according to this region. In this place, you will also find the bridge and many rare trees around the lake. They’re also the sounds of nature such as birds and butterflies. Pear lake opens every day from 8.30 AM until 4 PM. The Entrance Ticket prices are 45 CNY for adult and Free for Children.
5. Chongming Academy
This academy is the Confucius academy, it is the ancient Chinese temple’s wonderful doctrines. In this place, you can also enjoy the museum, learn the history, and the culture of the island. The Opening Hours of this place are June 15 to September 14 from 8.30 AM until 11 AM, 2 PM until 5 PM. And for the September 15 to next June 14 8.30 AM Until 4.30 PM. This academy Closed on Monday. The Entrance ticket prices are 10 CNY for adult and free for children.

6. Shou’an Temple
This is the historical temple, it is the temple since the Song Dynasty ( 960 – 1279). Nowadays, this temple has many buildings such as Mahavira hall and Heavenly kings hall. This temple opening hours are Everyday from 8.30 AM until 4.30 PM. The entrance ticket price is just 10 CNY.
7. Danyuan Garden
This garden contains the old Chinese decorations, and with halls, pavilions, pools within. This is the Chinese old garden style. You will feel the ancient Chinese atmosphere.
8. The several villages
You can also visit several villages on this island. The villages are Yingdong, Qianwei, Ruihua orchard, Jiangnan Sanmin, and Gaojizhuang. The Opening hours are Most of them are open from 8 AM until 5 PM. The Entrance Ticket prices start from 20 CNY until 60 CNY.
How to get there?
Chongming Island is located in the east estuary of the Yangtze River. Two vehicles will serve you to visit here. They are metro train and ferry boat.
- If you want to take the Metro train you can take line 1 and then stop at the Wenshui Road Station. Continue by leaving through Exit 4 and get in the Shenchong Bus line 1 at Wenshuilu Gonghexinlu Station to the terminal station.
- If you want to take the ferry, you can take the taxi first towards the Shidongkou port. And then, take the ferry to Nanmen port or Xinhe port of the Chongming Island.
