Get Familiar with Bangkok Airport (BKK)

Thailand is one of the most visited countries in Southeast Asia. This country has an international airport located in its capital, namely Bangkok Airport or Suvarnabhumi Airport.

If you go to Thailand through this airport, it’s better to get to know more about this airport in advance. Without further ado, let’s get started.

About Bangkok Airport (BKK)

Bangkok Airport (BKK)

The airport, also referred to as Suvarnabhumi Airport, takes the place of Don Muang Airport, which no longer accepts international flights.

On September 15, 2006, the airport with the BKK code formally opened for a select number of aircraft. Then, on September 28, 2006, domestic and foreign routes went into service.

Suvarnabhumi, which alludes to the golden kingdom, is the name that King Bhumibol Adulyajed gave to this airport. Helmut Jahn of Murphy/Jahn Architects is the architect who designed the airport.

This airport has the third largest single building in the world, at 563,000 square km, and has the tallest control tower in the world, at 132.2 meters.

When you land at this airport, you will be pampered with a modern architectural style. Metallic colors dominate the airport, with the framework and support looking exposed.

The blue silhouette color decorates the metal frame and has a glow that makes it glow beautifully. The support frame itself looks solid, showing off its strength, and this was deliberately shown by the designer.

Apart from that, you can see the structure and curved silhouette; the roof pattern is like a lot of eggs.

However, the design of Suvarnabhumi Airport does not only have a modern side. For a local touch, the designer has added Thai-inspired art installations, such as those found in the departures area, which are immediately visible once you clear immigration. In addition, there is also a large statue in the arrivals area.
