Ho Chi Minh City Airport Terminal
To serve the needs of passengers who have just arrived or are about to leave the airport, Ho Chi Minh Airport (SGN) has built two terminals. These two terminals will coordinate international and domestic flights in Ho Chi Minh.
The two terminals are Domestic Terminal 1 and International Terminal 2. Because it is a busy airport, Ho Chi Minh Airport plans to open one additional terminal, namely Terminal 3.
Terminal 3 is estimated to be able to handle up to 20 million passengers annually and will open in 2024. The two terminals are located in two different buildings, so passengers from domestic and international flights will not meet.
Terminal 2 has more floors than Terminal 1 because it adapts to several facilities explicitly used for international flights. You will find information about each terminal’s services in the next section.
Ho Chi Minh City Airport Domestic Terminal 1
Ho Chi Minh Terminal 1 handles domestic flights in Vietnam and is the oldest terminal before Terminal 2 Ho Chi Minh operates. So those who use Terminal 1 a lot are the people of Vietnam.
1. Levels
The Terminal 1 building has 19 gates and consists of two floors, namely:
- Ground Level
This ground level handles the arrival and departure of passengers from other areas in Vietnam. At the ground level, passengers can claim baggage in the middle area of this level.
Meanwhile, on this level’s left and right sides, you can find Departure A, and Departure B. Security checks are also in this area. So, at this level, all matters relating to arrivals and departures occur.
- First Level
At this level, specifically for the lounges area. In this area, you can use one of the available lounges to rest while waiting for your flight.
2. Services
In general, there are several facilities that you can use. Some of them are ATMs, massages, baggage wrapping, medical services, information counters, currency exchange, duty-free shops, children’s play areas, and others.
3. Lounges
If you want to use the waiting time for your flight to relax, you can visit the lounges on the first level. The two available lounges are:
- Le Saigonnais Business Lounge
Hours of operation are from 04.30 AM to 11.00 PM. Some of the services available are Wi-Fi, magazines, TV, drinks, and so on.
- Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge
This lounge is open 24 hours a day and has services such as TV, Wi-Fi, drinks, etc.
Ho Chi Minh City Airport International Terminal 2
This terminal has been open since 2008 and handles international flights. International Terminal 2 is also more commonly known as Terminal 2.
1. Levels
There are four levels in International Terminal 2, namely:
- Ground Level
This area handles the baggage claim level. At the ground level, exit gates and information counters are also available.
- Level 1
At this level, specifically for Arrival, you will take care of matters related to immigration and passport controls when you land.
- Level 2
This is a particular area for international departures. Here you will check in and access the boarding gates.
- Level 3
This area deals explicitly with immigration. After completing immigration, you can come to a restaurant to eat.
2. Services
Some of the services available at Terminal 2 are a post office, currency exchange, ATMs, sleeping zone, smoking room, lockers, luggage storage, foot spa, duty-free shop, information counters, children’s play area, and others.
3. Lounges
There are four lounges in International Terminal 2, namely:
- Le Saigonnais Business Lounge
The lounge’s operating hours are from the first departure to the last. Some of the services provided by the lounge in the departure area are copiers, drinks, food, newspapers, magazines, and showers.
- Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge
It is located on level 3, which is open 24 hours daily. Services available include magazines, newspapers, shoe shine services, snacks, Wi-Fi, TV, food, and showers.
- Rose Business Lounge
It is located at Gate No. 8 and 9, open 24 hours daily. Some of the services provided are TV, Wi-Fi, printers, food, newspapers, and magazines.
- Orchid Lounge
It is located on the second level, open from 06.00 AM to 02.00 AM. Services available are excellent food, Wi-Fi, snacks, newspapers and magazines, and drinks.
Inter-Terminal Transfers
Even though the two terminals are located in separate buildings, they are very close. You can walk from Ho Chi Minh Airport Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. The travel time is about 10 minutes.
