It would be such a waste not to visit Tokyo Tower if you happen to be in the city. The tower is the landmark of Tokyo and a part of the Japanese’s icon. With a height reaching 333 meters right in the middle of Tokyo, this tower is the tallest one in the world. The construction was inspired by the Eiffel Tower and it is proven to be even taller than its muse. The tower was constructed as Japan’s rebirth symbol after the war, especially for economic success and strength.
Tokyo Tower Specialty
It is quite understandable if the tower becomes a popular tourist destination. After all, aren’t all popular towers in the world getting the same attention too? The tower also serves as a massive and tall broadcast antenna besides some of the locations to explore.
Most tourists are interested in coming to the main deck, which 150 meters high. From this point, you can see the whole city’s view. If you want to get the higher view, you can take the elevators from the main deck to the top deck, which 250 meters high. From there, you can see Mount Fuji and Tokyo Skytree when the visibility is pretty good.
Below the tower, you can find a building, named Foot Town. It houses cafes, souvenir shops, restaurants, and also One Piece Tower – which is a unique amusement park located indoor. The amusement park was opened in 2019, offering attractions, games, and different kinds of shows featuring the series (One Piece) characters.

Tokyo Tower Aquarium
Besides making use of the tower’s height to look around, there are also some places or activities that you can do. For instance, Tokyo Tower Aquarium is one of the biggest one in the world, housing more than 50,000 fish collections from 900 species. The glass tank is huge, around 500 square meters. If you are coming to this place, you can enjoy various collections of the fish in a peaceful and soothing environment.
This aquarium is located on the first floor of Tokyo Tower. It opens from 10.30 AM to 6 PM. Adults are charged 1,080 yen while senior citizens and junior high school students are charged 600 yen.
One Piece Attractions
As it was mentioned before, you can enjoy live entertainment and attractions. If you are familiar with the manga, then you know how exciting it can be! Expect attractions like Chopper’s Thousand Sunny Tour where visitors can explore the pirate ship, Luffy’s Endless Adventure, and also Nami’s Casino. It is located on the first and third floor. Adults are charged 2000 yen, while children from 7 to 12 years old are charged 1500 yen. Children under 7 years old are charged 1000 yen.
Foot Town
If you go to the second floor, you can find a food court, restaurants, and shops where you can dine and have a break. The shops are mostly selling souvenirs. If you are interested to buy the souvenirs or take a break from your trip, this would be the perfect spot.
Reaching Tokyo Tower
The nearest and most reachable subway stations to the tower are Kamiyacho (Hibiya subway line), Akabanebashi (Oedo subway line), and Onarimon Station (Mita subway line). From those 3 stations, it takes around 5 minutes to 10 minutes to walk. If you are using the JR line, such as Yamanote line, you should get off at Hamamatsucho Station. It takes 15 minutes to 20 minutes to walk. Yes, it is farther but it can be an alternative option.
