What can you while you wait in between the layover? Imagine that you are going elsewhere and you need to make a stop first at Phuket Airport. You still have several hours before you catch your next flights and you are clueless of what to do. What are the options? What are the things you can do?
Hotels and Accommodation
If your flight is taking place on the next day – or at least 12 hours after you arrive – it is better that you find a good hotel to shower and rest. It gives you a fresh starting point – not to mention that you will also smell better! There are some good (and even exclusive) hotels close to the airport, so finding the right one for you should be easy.
If you don’t want to leave the airport at all, there is an airport hotel on the International terminal. Go to the third floor and you should be able to find it. Even if you don’t spend a night, you can get a decent opportunity to take a shower, take a nap, and relax. Before you know it, your flights will be up soon and you can leave.
You can also go to the waiting area (located on the ground floor) where you can close your eyes a while and literally don’t need to spend a dime. It has artificial grass floor, comfy seats, and a bathroom nearby. You only need to prepare earplugs and a sleeping mask – and you can sleep and rest without being bothered by the overhead announcements or bright lights.
Going out or Staying in?
If you have more than 5 hours to wait, you can always go out to the nearby resorts or spots, such as Nai Yang beach or Gibbon Rehabilitation Project. However, make sure that you stay close to the airports. Choose transportation wisely. The traffic is Thailand is notoriously known unpredictable. Make sure that you have prepared the travelling time and you should have enough time for the trip without rushing.
If you have only several hours to wait (less than 6 hours), it’s advisable that you stay in. Make use of the available facilities like the WiFi and the lounges. Yes, you will have to pay for the service but it is not much – and you can enjoy the facilities while waiting. After all, some lounges do sell entrance passes for those who aren’t flying business.
There are tons of things to do in the airport, really. If you like shopping, or you want to have a window-shopping experience, the duty-free shops are available to cater to your needs. They are all over the airport. You can also find four convenience stores there. If you are hungry or thirsty, there are many restaurants available. Some of them are even open 24/7 so it won’t be a problem.
If you are in need of a banking service or you need to have some cash with you, the ATMs section will deliver the service you need. They are available at the Departure and Arrival halls, along with money changers. There are 4 counters in the Arrival section and 1 counter in the Departure section. Having the local currency shouldn’t be a problem either.
Sauna and Spa are located on the second floor at Terminal Hall. It will give you a nice feeling after you are done. You get to close your eyes a while and you will be pampered with exclusive treatment. Pharmacy and mobile charging ports are also available so you won’t have to worry that your mobile phone will run out of power.
As you can see, the airport has pretty good facilities that will keep you occupied while waiting. After all, it caters to all kinds of flights – expensive and cheap. If you are looking for inexpensive flight service for your next time coming to Thailand, such as Air Asia, you can find the best deal and book one at Airpaz.
