After Burmese destroyed the former Ayutthaya capital in 1767, the new capital named Thonburi was built by King Taksin on the west river bank.

How to Get To Wat Arun Temple Bangkok
Located on the Chao Phraya’swest river bank, the Temple of Dawn Wat Arun is in the opposite place of Grand Palace and Wat Pho temple.
Visitors can reach the temple by boat as the best Wat Arun Temple transport. The express boat to choose should stop at the Grand Palace’s Tha Tien Pier.
From the east river bank, take the Tha Tien express boat to cross the river. The short ride gives many beautiful views to take some pictures, especially the huge prang of Wat Arun.
