About the Gimpo Airport
Gimpo Airport is the third largest airports in South Korea, after Incheon Airport and Jeju Airport. It is operated and run by KAC (Korea Airports Corporation). Just like the other two international airports, Gimpo Airport Is busy, handling around 24 million people in 2018 alone. The airport has undergone renovation and expansion in 2013 – everything is designed to accommodate the growing numbers of passengers.
Terminal One, the International Terminal
In this airport, there are 2 major terminals designed to accommodate the passengers as well as the available service. There are also 2 parallel runways, a cargo terminal, commercial spaces, retail facilities, and an aviation business centre.
Terminal 1 functions as International Terminal, covering 53,090 meters square of area. The terminal’s capacity is to accommodate five million people. The terminal can handle 31 million people – a number that is definitely bigger than Terminal 1.

An Important Consideration
Unlike other international airports that generally run 24/7, this airport closes from 11 PM to 5 AM. Overnight stay isn’t possible because it isn’t allowed. Those who need to spend the night can always go to the nearby hotels – the free shuttle service is available. If you have a layover that requires you to spend a night, make sure to make reservations at one of the hotels.
Reaching the Airport
So, how do you reach the airport? There are some options, like the bus or a taxi. But the fastest way is by using the train. From Seoul Station, it takes around 22 minutes and the fare is 1,450 won per person. In the event that you are coming from Incheon Airport, the All Stop Train takes around 33 minutes to reach Gimpo.
