1. Buses

The bus is one of Ho Chi Minh City public transportation that is much loved by passengers who have just landed because it is easy to find and the fare is relatively cheap.

Not only one type of bus; there are several bus options that you can choose to take you to your destination, namely:

  • Public Bus 152

This public bus is the cheapest transportation compared to several buses and other vehicles. Within 45 minutes of travel, you can get to the city center at only around 6,000 VND (0.25 USD) for one trip.

If you bring a suitcase, we will also charge a fee of 6,000 VND for each big piece of luggage.

This long travel time is because the bus will stop at several places, and the last stop is around Ben Thanh Market.

The location of this bus stop at the airport is outside the arrival terminal, to the right of the terminal area. The operating hours of this bus are from 05.45 AM to 06.15 PM.

  • Airport Bus 109

If you use the Ho Chi Minh Airport bus, you will feel more comfortable because the area for luggage is large, and the bus staff can speak English, so communication will be more accessible.

Just like Bus 152, the trip duration is around 45 minutes because it stops at several places. You can find this bus ticket counter in Terminal 1 (Column 18) and Terminal 2 (Column 12).

The operating hours of this bus are 05.30 AM to 01.00 AM (midnight) with a one-way fare of 20,000 VND (0.85 USD) to the city center, while for short distances, the fare is 12,000 VND (0.50 USD).

  • Yellow bus 49

This third bus option is one of the tourist’s favorites because it is modern and provides comfortable facilities for its passengers. Although it is more expensive than the last two buses, the comfort, routes, and facilities are worth the price.

You have to pay a fee of 40,000 VND (1.70 USD) for one trip for a journey duration of 45 minutes. The operating hours of this bus are from 05.00 AM to 00.30 AM the next day.

The location of the bus counter is in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, adjacent to the Airport Bus 109 counter.

2. Taxis

You can use a Ho Chi Minh taxi if you want faster travel time to the city center or other places.

Even though the estimate is 45 minutes to the city center, you can arrive faster when the traffic conditions are smooth and not crowded. Taxis also don’t stop at several stations like buses so that it can be faster.

Ho Chi Minh Airport’s taxi price to the city center is around 150,000 VND (6 USD). But be sure to ask the taxi driver to turn on the taxi meter so that you are charged the amount you are supposed to pay.

Apart from these fees, you must also pay 10,000 VND (0.40 USD) as an airport surcharge.

If you already have a sim card that you can use in Vietnam, ordering Grab can be a cheaper option than a taxi. The difference in fare is quite significant because the fare with Grab is only around 100,000 VND (4.25 USD) to the city center and is subject to 10,000 VND as an airport surcharge.

Currently, online transportation is more profitable because you can find out how much you must pay the fee to the driver before pressing the “Order” menu. You can also take advantage of various promos if you’re lucky.

But make sure to avoid any problems involving Grab drivers with airport taxis. The trick is to avoid answering questions from airport taxi drivers regarding your order at Grab.

3. Car Rental

This last option is perfect for those who want to drive more flexibly and comfortably because you can go anywhere during the trip.

Please note that Vietnam only allows people renting a car to have an international or local driver’s license. However, permission to drive your car in this country is challenging if you are a foreigner.

Therefore, look for a rental company that also provides drivers. The daily rate for a car rental with a driver is around 1,875,200 VND (80 USD).

After knowing the routes, fares, and travel times from the Ho Chi Minh Airport transportation recommendations above, you can choose the most appropriate one. But remember, before using this transportation, you must book airline tickets and hotels first. To make ordering easier and more profitable, book at Airpaz
