This 3-star certified airport has three main buildings: the Main Terminal Building (MTB), the Contact Pier, and the Satellite Terminal Building (STB). The foremost building is none other than the MTB, where the Departure Hall and Arrival Hall are located. Connected to the MTB is the Contact Pier, an extension of the main building that has several gates: Gate A and B serving domestic flights and Gate G and H serving international flights. The last building is the STB which can only be reached from the main building using the Aerotrain. This building accommodates international flights that depart for and from Kuala Lumpur Airport.

1. Train

Like many airports, Kuala Lumpur Airport provides train service with a train station named KLIA Express Rail Link (ERL) located on Level 1 of the Main Terminal Building. There are three main services that are provided:

  • Inter-terminal transfer that connects between KLIA and klia2
  • KLIA Ekspres provides a short and fast route between KL Sentral, KLIA, and KLIA2. This train service uses Platform A of KLIA ERL station.
  • KLIA Transit provides a quick commuting service between KLIA2, KLIA, and KL Sentral (the city) with quick stops at Salak Tinggi station, Putrajaya & Cyberjaya station, and Bandar Tasik Selatan station. This train service uses Platform B of KLIA ERL station.

2. Bus

If you’re planning to go by bus, Kuala Lumpur Airport has a bus station with many operating buses that can take you to many places. Here are the selections of buses you can take to your destination!

  • Airport Liner transports passengers between KLIA and KLIA2, Nilai areas
  • Airport Coach connects KLIA with KL Sentral.
  • Transnasional connects KLIA with Malacca/Melaka.
  • Star Shuttle transports passengers between KLIA and Pudu Sentral/Puduraya Bus Terminal.
  • Aerobus connects KLIA with Genting Highlands, Klang, and Petaling Jaya.
  • Yoyo Bus offers regular services between KLIA and Ipoh, Taiping, and Johor Baru.

3. Taxi

There are two selections of taxis that you can choose from in Kuala Lumpur Airport: Airport Taxis and Limos and Metered Taxis. Unlike metered taxis, you’re required to purchase a coupon before getting on the airport taxis and limos, which can be purchased at these locations:

  • International Arrival Hall
  • Domestic Arrival Hall
  • Arrival Level of Domestic Baggage Reclaim

As for the metered taxis, you’re required to purchase an RM2.00 coupon before getting on the ride. Additional fares are then charged depending on the meters traveled. Moreover, this coupon also serves as proof of travel.
